Tomorrow, I go into the hospital for 5-7 nights of video EEG monitoring. Last night was the perfect send-off with my pals in the Northern Irish band Ash. Bonus: spending time with Ms. Katie Lynn Hutchinson. No matter how long it’s been since we see each other, it’s like we’ve never missed a beat. I love this strong and amazing woman!
The show was a momentous occasion as it marked the first time that my boyfriend, Jon, met the lads in Ash! I’ve known Mark, Rick, and Tim since 1996 when Ash did a string of concert dates opening for my then boyfriend’s band. We’ve kept in touch ever since. I don’t think I’ve ever missed one of their Boston shows since then! I luuuurve then.
Ash is one of my all-time favorite bands to see perform. I was so spoiled when I got to see them, like, every night for free when I was in college.
Their performance at Brighton Music Hall was brilliant, but I always want more. The extra drum beat on “epiphany” during “Shining Light”? I can’t get enough of it. The crashing guitar of “Burn Baby Burn”-magical. And so much more … but I’m rather delirious from Gabapentin right now. Wheeeee!

It was a lovely night and everyone, especially Ash’s performance, made me forget about my dread of this epilepsy study. Our Irish pal, Steve, had the boys sign this wicked rare 7″ for me.

Oh yeah, you should go see Ash when they play your town. And you should check out their glorious power pop tunes.
And here’s us being goofy after the show.
