In less than two weeks, I’ll be getting a new kneecap and my Medial Patellofemeral Ligament (MPFL) reconstructed. I’m a bit anxious about it. I’m very excited to have my knee rebuilt and I’m hopeful that I’ll regain more mobility. But then I get that pounding behind the eyes. I think about how this is the first of several surgeries to look forward to. I’m scared about the recovery. I hate being in the hospital. (Like anyone ever likes being the hospital.)

I’m lucky to have supportive friends and family. And health insurance! I’m thankful that the surgery is covered by my insurance. Cross your fingers that they’ll approve Aimovig for me. I mean, something has to help these headaches and the drug has my nickname in it!
During my recovery, I’ll be out from work for about eight weeks. No driving for me. I’ll be doing physical therapy in the hospital, then at home (with assistance), and then as an outpatient. The plan is to have my left leg immobilized in a brace during those eight weeks.
