Pop Culture + Chronic Illness

I’ve had a headache for almost four weeks now. A course of Prednisone eased it for a few days, but that’s the only relief I’ve gotten. My pain care team has run out of options.

Anyone have any ideas? Physical therapy is helping, but my body just seems wicked bent out of shape. My left rib and shoulder are elevated in a weird way. I have this muscle pull in my neck that radiates up my jaw and down to the tips of my fingers. I have numbness along my hand.

Things feel loud. Too loud. Things are sharp and bright. Nothing sounds right. My senses feel overloaded.

On the upside, my health insurance finally fixed the $1500 incorrect charge for post-op physical therapy visits. I’ve been working on that problem since May. Having resolved that issue, I finally booked a consultation with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome physical therapist guru Kevin Muldowney! I’m scheduled to see him on January 29 at his office in Rhode Island. The consultation is not covered by insurance, so I had to take care of that $1500 mistake first.

I’m hopeful that Mr. Muldowney will have a course of treatment that will help. Fingers crossed!
