Pop Culture + Chronic Illness

Trying to block out the sounds of the ER hallway. Photo by Diane Tripp

I’m relieved to be home. Had a reaction to gadobutrol (contrast) that was used in my MRA and MRI on Thursday. I got exceedingly ill. Vomiting. Tachycardia. Seizure. Headache. I started to feel a little better, but they needed my room in the ER at Lahey Hospital so I spent hours in a hallway. It was hell. You know when you have a migraine and you’re vomiting and every sound, light, smell kills you? Yeah. That was awesome.

I understand that the ER was overwhelmed, but I’d rather have been in an empty exam room in urology.
