Here’s a “Hospital Glam” shot from this morning’s upper endscopy. Good news: Everything went well! I didn’t get sick! And whatever they gave me had eased my headache a bit.

Bad news: Preliminary results include: mild erythema at pylorus without ulceration or erosion. Possible gastroparesis. Mucosal variant in the duodenum, whitish discoloration, villi appear otherwise normal. Biopsied. Results in 10-14 days. Fingers crossed that it’s benign.
Yeah, I had to look up most of that stuff. Any medical professionals want to explain for the class? I’m waiting to get a call from my gastroenterologist for an explanation.
The doctor who performed the endoscopy told me that the stomach was red and irritated and that they found something and biopsied it. He recommended a gastric emptying test. My gastroenterologist has recommended that as well. We decided to make our decision on doing the test based on today’s endscopy. The test takes four hours. I eat some radioactive food and they x-ray my gastrointestinal track (GI) to follow how I’m digesting the food.
I have this silly idea in my head that I’ll glow from the radioactive food. And this food had better be vegetarian!
